Two Kenyan soldiers have been sacked and jailed for looting during last month's attack on the Westgate shopping centre, the army chief has said.

Julius Karangi said that a third soldier was under investigation. He has previously said that soldiers had only taken water during the four-day siege, despite CCTV footage seeming to show them helping themselves to goods in a supermarket.
Somali Islamist group al-Shabab says it was behind the attack, which killed 67.

At the same news conference, Police Criminal Investigation Department head Ndegwa Muhoro said that a phone call had been made to Norway during the siege.

One of the suspected attackers has been named as 23-year-old Somalia-born Norwegian national, Hassan Abdi Dhuhulow.

The Kenyan army has said that all four of the attackers died.
Mr Muhoro said that Interpol was helping to analyse the bodies to confirm their identities, reports the AFP news agency.

The Nigerian Golden Eaglets on tuesday progressed into the quater finals of the on-going world U-17 championship after defeating the Nojavanan of Iran by 4 goals to1 in a round of 16 match at the Kalifa Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain City.

Three-time champions Nigeria, really mounted pressure on the Iranian side which had been so sturdy up to this point in the competition. Nigeria's attacks from both flanks left the opposition frustrated. Samuel Okon, scored the first goal of the game in the 23rd minute which was consecutively followed by Kelechi Iheanacho who fired in his fifth goal of the tournament after the 25th minute. Captain Musa Muhammed grabbed a third goal at the 42nd minute of the game while in the 76th minute, Musa Yahaya dropped his shoulder brilliantly again – pulling out his signature move – before firing low into the corner from 25 yards.

However, Substitute Ali Gholizadeh scored in the 84th minute from the edge of the box to give the Irannians a consolation.

Nigeria will meet Uruaguay on saturday. Other quater final matches include
Honduras vs Sweden- Friday 1st November
Brazil vs Mexico- Friday 1st November
Argentina vs Cote d'Ivoire- Saturday 2nd November

Congrats! Golden Eaglets, Uruaguay is next on the line. Keep the fire burning as we expect something more than this.

Blackberry Users react to the introduction of BBM on other smartphones

bbm for all

Lol, since the introduction of BBM to other smartphones, some Blackberry users have been reacting negatively to it.

Check out what a guy posted on facebook this morning- "If u receive any BBM request where the pin starts wit 7, pls dnt accept. They are outcast! We dnt care if they use an iPhone, Techno,Phantom or Samsung S4, if you want to ping, buy a (BB) Blackberry... Make techno add techno jare before these people turn bbm to 2go. share nd let d fun continue..... Love u all."

I couldn't control my laughter when I saw that; I also stumbled on another post- "Android bbm pins is just like Waec runs 7A2E1F, soon bbm wil be like palmchat or 2go,Childish.... plss to my real bbm users try to accommodate them, there is love in sharing."

Is Blackberry the only phone in the world? If no then why all the annoyance;). Please Blackberry users take it easy on them rather blame those that launched the application.

Remember 'there is love in sharing' so show them love.

NLC threatens nationwide shutdown over ASUU strike

NLC Logo
The Nigerian Labour Congress on Wednesday threatened to embark on a nationwide strike unless the Federal Government intervened to resolve the protracted strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

At the end of its National Executive Committee meeting in Kaduna yesterday, the NLC, in a communique, said that it was dismayed by the inability of the government to put an end to the strike that had crippled academic activities in public universities.

The President of the NLC, Mr. Abdulwahed Omar and the Acting General Secretary of the Congress, Mr. Chris Uyot, accused the Federal Government of sponsoring protests against ASUU instead of resolving the lingering crisis.

They warned that the NLC would not hesitate to call out Nigerian workers to protest across the country if the present situation was not changed by the Federal Government.
Omar and Uyot also stated that the NLC had taken a decision to intervene in the crisis rocking the university system in order to save Nigerian students from needless pains. 'NEC-In-Session expresses its deep concern for the near total collapse of the education sector. It is a sad commentary that government has allowed the strike by ASUU to drag on for so long with incalculable consequences.

'Rather than resolve these issues, government is busy sponsoring protest groups against ASUU.
'NEC cautions that if government persists with this line of action, it will mobilize its members to stage counter protests across the country. It has the will and the capacity and it advises that government should not test that will.'

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor, The Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, Prof. Adebayo Adeyemi, has described the lingering ASUU strike as a national problem, and not a blessing to the private universities.
Adeyemi while briefing the press on Wednesday on its 5th forthcoming convocation, said both the Federal Government and ASUU should meet and reach an implementable agreement, so that the strike could be called off.
